Charles Yates has stepped down from his role at Grant Thornton UK to start an independent consultancy, Environmental Finance has learned.
Yates had been with Grant Thornton for 11 years, where he was a London-based associate director in the energy, cleantech and sustainability team.
He recently left to start his own consultancy – CY Consultants – which focusses on renewables, the broader power sector, and the water sector in the UK.
The new firm has "a hands-on approach to co-developing and implementing practical solutions to financing and regulatory opportunities", Yates said. "The hallmark of our work is independent advice based on in-depth experience at a senior level."
"Charles has been a great member of the team for the past decade and he moves on with our best wishes," said Nathan Goode, head of Grant Thornton's energy, environment and sustainability team which, he said, has a flexible structure and can call on the expertise of eight to 10 members of staff.
Goode added that there were no immediate plans to replace Yates.
