The winners of Environmental Finance's 2021 Impact Awards have been announced.
The annual awards seek to recognise and reward the work of impact investors, highlight best practice and thought leadership across all asset classes and all geographies.
The winners were selected by an independent panel of impact investment experts, based on information relating to the period between 1 April 2020 and 31 May 2021.
Among the notable winners were:
- Emily Chew, executive vice president and chief responsible investment officer, Calvert Research and Management, who was awarded 'Personality of the year';
- Axa IM, which scooped three awards in the 'Impact project/investment of the year' categories, coming top of the judges' scores for the 'health', 'education' and 'social inclusion/community development' sub-categories;
- The LEAF Coalition, a recently-launched public-private initiative designed to accelerate climate action, won two awards, for 'Impact project/investment of the year – climate' and 'Innovation/invention of the year'.
"Congratulations to every one of the winners in this year's Impact Awards," said Michael Hurley, deputy editor at Environmental Finance. "I also commend the many high-quality candidates who did not win this time around, but who I hope will return next year with even more evidence of the positive impact of their investments.
"I would like to thank the judges who volunteered their time to help assess the hundreds of entries and select their favourites.
"I look forward to witnessing what the next 12 months has in store for all the entrants to our awards, as the exciting growth of impact investing accelerates."
