Webinar to explore green financial growth in Mexico

The growth prospects of the green bond market in Mexico will be the focus of a webinar presented by the IFC in collaboration with Environmental Finance.

Mexico: An opportunity for green capital markets features speakers from Amundi (an investor), Santander (an underwriter), a stock exchange (BIVA), and an issuer (Fibra UNO), as well as experts from the IFC.

They will discuss why the country has seen 172% growth in sustainable bond issuance between 2019 and 2021, and the potential for further growth amid the transition to a low-carbon economy.

Discussion points include:

  • Demand potential and growth prospects for green bond issuance in Mexico.
  • Which sectors offer the most investment potential.
  • What has been the experience for issuers and investors.
  • Opportunities for more local currency issuances and how this can expand the investor base.
  • Current scenario and trends of the sustainable debt market in Mexico.
  • Drivers, challenges and recommendations to better align financial flows to the development of climate agenda.
