Environmental Finance has launched the 2020 version of its Guide to environmental, social and governance (ESG) data providers, detailing more than 150 products provided by ESG data companies across the world.
This is the second year that Environmental Finance has collated this information, and this year the guide has been expanded, with 152 entries from 62 companies. There were 125 entries last year.
As ESG investing has increasingly 'gone mainstream' an industry of data providers has sprung up to service the demand for high quality data that can inform investment decision making. These range from the established ESG ratings agencies, such as MSCI and Sustainalytics, to smaller providers that focus on specific issues, such as InfluenceMap, an NGO that explores companies' lobbying activities.
The guide is designed to help data users navigate this increasingly confusing world of ESG data, and to discover new sources of information.
The ESG Data Guide details what data is recorded by the different providers and summarises their offerings.
