Brief description of the data offering

Global Forest Watch Pro (GFW Pro) is a private and secure online monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV) platform for reducing deforestation and conversion in commodity supply chains. GFW Pro delivers critical decision-making analyses for individual properties, supply sheds, and jurisdictions as well as portfolios of the same, and offers API-based access for integration of analyses into corporate systems. GFW Pro allows companies to manage geospatial data with ease through analyses, reports, and dashboards designed for soft commodity supply chain actors spanning cooperatives, processors, traders, manufacturers, and retailers, as well as lending officers and green finance experts. European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) risk assessment is available and support for country-specific forest codes is expanding. The product builds on best-in-class, timely data from the Global Forest Watch Partnership and World Resources Institute’s scientific research.

Where and how do you source your data?

GFW Pro is a Global Forest Watch (GFW) application. GFW is committed to providing the highest-quality public data on the world’s forests and is actively expanding its coverage of other natural land cover and conversion. All data provided on GFW have been assessed with respect to several indicators of quality, including timeliness, accuracy, completeness, geographic coverage, innovation, and objectivity. The GFW data comes from a variety of sources, including governments, NGOs, academia, and industry. To acquire new data, GFW:

  • Researches and incorporates publicly available open data
  • Forms partnerships to move data into the public domain
  • Funds the creation of data sets to fill key gaps
  • Applies cutting-edge science and technology to produce new data (e.g. Integrated Deforestation Alerts)

What is the cost for your data offering?

Organisations receive a free annual quantity of usage beyond which the purchase of incremental capacity is required. Unlimited use plans are available at fixed annual rates. All proceeds are reinvested into the platform and help underwrite free annual access by all organisations.
