Brief description of the data offering
The Minerva ESG Nexus data model is an innovative framework which captures the most critical and material aspects of ESG, corporate governance and SDG indicators, including ESG controversies.
Firstly, portfolio holdings are associated with one or more SDGs based on product and sector exposure. They are then assessed against an extensive and consistent set of positive and negative SDG Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), including UN Global Compact controversies. Companies are also measured for their alignment with the TCFD recommendations.
Investors will also benefit from Minerva’s open architecture framework which allows us to accommodate client-requested/generated SDG mapping considerations. By leveraging the inherent strengths and distinctions of various SDG approaches, investors can pursue a "Best in Class" approach for optimal results.
The audit and mapping exercise aims to identify investment risks and opportunities within a fund's assets related to the transition to sustainability and a low-carbon economy, with a focus on specific SDGs.
Where and how do you source your data?
Company-specific ESG information is available from the Minerva database, to support stewardship actions. Minerva has a strong reputation for high quality data which is prepared by seasoned and highly qualified analysts, not merely machine algorithms. Instead of questionnaires, Minerva uses public corporate disclosures to measure the extent to which corporate management is managing ESG risks and opportunities.
Minerva analyses over 90% of the world’s listed equity markets by value. Our robust research and analysis process results in over 2,000 individual data points on each company.
Besides company data, here are other sources:
- Analysis of policies
- Analysis of mandates
- Analysis of minutes
- Interview relevant staff
- Fund and company ratings
