Brief description of the data offering
The Inrate impact scores considers impact across four major components:
Environment GHG: It assesses the climate impact of business activities, measured mainly but not exclusively, by the emission of greenhouse gases as defined by the GHG Protocol.
Environment Other: It outlines the non-climate environmental impacts, primarily focusing on biodiversity loss driven by factors like land and sea use change, pollution, exploitation, and invasive species.
Social Direct: It encompasses the impacts on the consumer of the products or services at hand. This can range from both positive to negative impacts on health, human rights, social equity and inclusion, as well as access to water, among other factors.
Social Indirect: It includes all externalities affecting further stakeholders than the consumers or broader society in general.
Where and how do you source your data?
Scientific data or studies such as life-cycle assessments are utilised whenever possible to determine these impacts. In cases where such data is unavailable, a semi-quantitative approach is employed, relying on qualitative information from sources like subject matter experts or comparative studies to assign grades on a predefined quantitative scale
