Brief description of the data offering
Preqin ESG Solutions provide private markets with the most comprehensive ESG intelligence, data and tools to help alternative assets professionals make data-driven sustainable decisions with confidence, throughout the investment lifecycle. Our ESG data offering, which is split into ESG Profiles, Risk analytics and Impact potential, provides essential data at the firm-, fund- and asset-level. At the firm-level, our indicators track over 51,000 GPs’ and 20,000 LPs’ ESG integration in their internal operations, investment practices, engagement, regulatory disclosures and affiliations. At the fund-level, we track a variety of ESG-labelled funds, risk exposure and impact potential. At the asset-level, we track over 200,000 private companies’ carbon emissions, water intensity, employee volatility and turnover, impact potential and risk exposure.
Where and how do you source your data?
Our data collection methodology is built on two main pillars. We have built strong relationships with industry leaders over the better part of two decades and an experienced team of researchers who aid us in sourcing the data found within our ESG solutions. This is further scaled by machine learning techniques to inform and speed up the ESG investment process at various stages. Additionally, this data is sourced directly from Preqin clients and from publicly available sources to ensure the best data quality possible.
- Management Indicators: Sourced directly from notable industry frameworks such as UNPRI, SASB, TCFD and ILPA.
- Industry risk estimations: Sourced from SASB materiality framework, carbon and water estimates from CDP and world bank data and employee metrics from company inputs.
- Impact potential: Sourced from GP disclosures, NLP est. model and Preqin’s industry taxonomy.
