FactSet is a financial data and analytics provider that delivers content, analytics, and technology to more than 171,000 investment professionals around the world.
When it comes to delivering ESG data, FactSet takes a four-pronged approach according to Eli Reisman, director of ESG product management at the company:
- Integrates over 40 ESG content sets from third-party providers.
- Offers its Truvalue Labs data that enhances strategies built on traditional ratings through AI.
- Delivers company-reported ESG data.
- Provides a pathway to consolidating disparate ESG tools.
Over the past year, ESG trends were dominated by the EU ESG regulatory regime roll-out and the consolidation of ESG frameworks, Reisman said.
“It’s well documented that the lack of standardisation of ESG metrics and inconsistent reporting has been a major barrier for adoption and implementation of ESG strategies.
“The introduction of mandatory reporting in the EU and the consolidation of global frameworks under the International Sustainability Standards Board will drastically change the face of sustainable investing with greater transparency and accountability for both corporates and investors.
“The rising importance of private company ESG data speaks to the permeation of sustainable investing into new asset classes, like private debt and private equity & venture capital funds.
“The hunger for ESG information in areas where disclosure has traditionally been sparse will be met by using advanced technology to capture unstructured and alternative data sources.”
