Amundi Asset Management scooped the Fixed income manager of the year award after it hit the milestone of all of its actively managed funds now including environmental, social and governance (ESG) analysis.
One Environmental Finance Sustainable Investment Awards judge was particularly impressed by the extent of the ESG fixed income offering provided by Amundi, as well as its "long and experienced" history in the space.
Among its well-established sustainable fixed income funds are the €780 million ($944 million) Impact Green Bonds fund, €1.1 billion European Credit Socially Responsible Investment (SRI) fund and €200 million European High Yield SRI fund. Since the start of 2020, Amundi has also launched new funds in the range – including the €315 million Credit Just Climate Transition fund and €123 million Social Bonds fund.
Amundi ESG fixed income fund range
In 2018, Amundi set a target of integrating ESG assessment into all of its managed funds. This assessment includes analysing the contribution of portfolio companies to the energy transition in line with the Paris Agreement as well as the social cohesion of the countries in which they operate. The asset manager achieved this target earlier in 2021, with all its actively managed open-ended funds now integrating ESG assessment.
Amundi has also partnered with international development banks to support the sustainable fixed income market. The French asset manager launched the Amundi Planet Emerging Green One (EGO) fund targeting emerging market (EM) green bonds with the International Finance Corporation and the Asia Climate Bond portfolio targeting 'green' EM infrastructure bond issuers with the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank.
Amundi has also developed an investment solution with the European Investment Bank aimed at promoting 'green' segments of the European fixed income market that are still lagging, including high yield green bonds, green securitised credit, and green private debt.
