S&P Global has won the Diversity and inclusion initiative of the year for the APAC region, for its employee-led diversity equity and inclusion (DEI) efforts in Australia.
Globally, S&P supports a series of People Resource Groups (PRGs) that foster a diverse and inclusive workplace and offer safe spaces for identity-based groups, such as people from underrepresented ethnic groups, women, and the LGBTQ+ community. The voluntary groups also aim to provide tailored networking, learning and leadership opportunities for career development.
In the past year, S&P's PRG network within Australia has grown to include three PRGs who advocate for 'multi-cultural diversity', 'women's initiative for networking and success' and 'working parents and caregivers'. Throughout 2024, these three PRGs have delivered a series of events and activities to bring colleagues together across its Sydney and Melbourne offices.
At the same time, S&P continued the rollout of its 'Eskalera' platform, giving colleagues access to DEI learning and development. The interactive tool provides self-paced microlearning across authenticity, empathetic listening, allyship and psychological safety.
Dianna Enlund, sustainability solutions director, and Julie Ballard, president of S&P's Empower Australia PRG, said: "S&P Global is thrilled to be recognised for our DEI initiatives. Global companies like ours have the power to drive the advancement of workplace culture, and we are incredibly fortunate to be part of a company where DEI is more than words.
"This award acknowledges the excellent work of our Australian and global PRGs which help recognise and celebrate the different cultures that exist within our workplaces and societies.
"Here in Australia, through the establishment of the Australian chapter of our Empower PRG, we have experienced first-hand how initiatives to advance multicultural diversity can foster a greater sense of community and create a more welcoming space for everyone."
