Endowment/Foundation of the year: Janus Henderson Foundation

Taking this year's 'Endowment/Foundation of the year' award is the Janus Henderson Foundation, which was recognised for its ongoing efforts in empowering youth predominantly through educational opportunities.

The foundation – backed by the global asset manager Janus Henderson Investors – celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2024, and was highlighted by judges for its efforts in delivering real impact in the communities it operates in.

Demesha HillOver the past year, the foundation's principal activity has been its support of the Greenwood Project with an ongoing three-year grant. The project aims to create career pathways into the financial services industry for Black and Latino students through training and internships.

According to its submission, the $450,000 grant from the foundation has allowed "high-achieving, underserved students to participate in the programme".

Moreover, the foundation has helped to expand the project's student recruitment efforts beyond its Chicago area of focus by hosting an information session in Denver, Colorado, where the Janus Henderson US headquarters is located.

Through its partnership with Greenwood Project, more than 200 students have been served, with some 70% of alumni establishing careers in the financial services sector, according to the foundation. In addition, more than 95% of individuals now working in the sector have attained high-trajectory roles, "showcasing the profound impact of the Greenwood Project on these aspiring professionals".
