Working with a variety of investment managers across sustainable and impact investing approaches. Glenmede seeks to offer customised portfolios with a focus on environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues.
The approaches employed by these managers span four distinct strategies to incorporating ESG data. Those themes are environmental sustainability, healthcare, affordable housing, education, gender equity, racial equity, local community development and financial inclusion.
The firm has been working on thought leadership in this area. Since April 2020, it has released four long-form research papers on climate change, fiduciary duty, gender equity and racial equity. In addition, it released six briefer articles on the subject and sponsors an online platform, Impactivate, which offers free educational content about sustainable and impact investing.
"This award reflects our ability to design sustainable and impact aligned portfolios for our clients across a diverse set of interests, asset classes, and geographies – providing the high touch, personalised approach for which Glenmede is known across its services," said Mark Hays, director of sustainable & impact investing at Glenmede.
Collaborative efforts to further develop sustainable investing is another area Glenmede has made central to its investment approach. It has participated in various industry working groups including UN SDG Impact, GIIN's impact measurement groups, UNPRI's Consultative Sessions, and Gender Smart's Justice, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (JEDI) working group.
